Catching A Real Ball While Using VR [Video]

Catching A Real Ball While Using VR [Video]

I love the idea of virtual reality (VR) as well as augmented reality (AR). The difference between the two of them is that at this very moment, AR has so many applications for it, from HUD overviews for the military to Plumbers that want to learn new parts of their profession. VR has some applications with PTSD exposure therapy and gaming, but it’s very limited right now.

That being said, I look forward to a Ready Player One type of future (the VR, not the dystopian future) where you socialize, learn, and work in VR.

The whole point of it was to be disconnected to the real work, right? Maybe not.

The video below shows how they are able to use cameras in the helmet with VR, decrease the latency from the camera with a variety of predictive algorithms, and be able to catch a ball while blind. So cool!
